Bio

I have been involved with music all my life and my professional journey has been characterized by highlights and challenges. In my ‘formative’ years, I learnt the recorder at pre-school, commenced flute lessons when I was 6, and became the youngest member of Lindfield’s Concert Band which won State and Australian titles in the early 90’s and performed at the Sydney Opera House in 1990. In my ‘experimental’ years at secondary school, I continued flute lessons to AMEB (Level 7); learned to play guitar and keyboards; played in garage bands in Newcastle - including gigs with Ben Gillies and Daniel Johns who went on to form Silver Chair. During this period, I developed an eclectic taste in music and enjoyed listening to 90s Australian and American Alternative as well as Brit Pop. I earned my first money busking in the Valley and West End while at university in Brisbane. I also inherited my parents’ vinyl record collection – and dabbled as a DJ – before playing gigs at venues in Brisbane in the early 2000’s until now. These days I sell original beats online at https://purpleprosperity.beatstars.com. I occasionally Dj out and about in Brisbane still. I run a mixing and mastering service using state of the art software and hardware. I also film bike rides showing off Brisbane to the world. In my ‘contemplative’ years I considered the possibility of earning money doing something I loved. Despite struggling with mental health issues, I enrolled in a Music Diploma course at Southbank TAFE in 2010 – and some 14 years later have a Diploma under my belt and am a couple of subjects away from completing the Bachelor of Creative Industries (Contemporary Music Practice). During this time, I have established a music studio at home and earned some money selling beats.
